Paintball hurts

I have 9 whelps from painballing. They hurt a little. I think my pride is hurt more than anything though. It turns out I am not as fast as I used to be and I am not as good as shot as I thought I was. It was awesome though. Everyone had a great time. It was awesome to see everyone working together. Even if it was to try to shoot me.

Mowing Mondays Rock

We hit 5 yards today!!! We are blitzing Luling with God's love. I am always amazed at how people don't believe there is anyhting out there for free. For me this service ministry is a constant reminder that we did nothing to earn our salvation. God paved the way. He did all the work on the cross. I am humbled at the same time. It is cool to see how people react when we refuse their money. Look for pics of today's mowing soon.

Watch out. It's paint ball time.

Two days until paintball. It is going to be a wild time. I am sure at some point that all guns will be pointed at me. That is ok. I can handle it. I think. We are starting at 9:30in Harwood and I hope that our ammo will go slow. I have a tendency to pull the trigger...a lot. I am thinking about a Rambo head band.

Too Much Stuff to Blog

Wow there has been a lot going on in our youth lately.  I have not had time to blog.  I know I should be keeping up better there just simply not been enough time in the day.  Here is what we have been up to.

  • Had an awesome time in leaky at the Real World Boot Camp.  Our seniors have already demonstrated evidence that they are applying some of the principals that they learned.
  • We headed out to the San Antonio Missions game and hit up Chester's Hamburgers.  Great time of fellowship.
  • We headed out to Super Summer and that was a great week where God really laid some things on her heart.
  • We had a pool day where I drank way to many Dr. Peppers and way too little water.  I was able to practice my baptismal skills though.  Thanks Ches and Randall.  I need your help.
  • Mowing Mondays has officially kicked off and we are gaining steam.  If only it would rain.  Our deacons have promised me a trailer if I can somehow muster one of our big rains.  I guess that I had better start praying.
  • Meals for Moms has also kicked off and already changing lives.  More to come on this
  • Next week we are going paint-balling. Look out i may only last for about five minutes but I will definitely use all of my paint.
  • On July, 11th we are headed to the beach.
  • Our Sunday morning bible study was huge this last week.  Really awesome spirit.
Our goal is to find a balance between fellowship, discipleship and service.  I think that we have done pretty good so far.  Post your fellowship, service and discipleship ideas here.

Look for the Faces of Dave pics soon.

Dave vs the Puffy Taco

That's right Dave vs.the Puffy Taco.  We went to the missions game and someone was shrining my head.  Usually I expect the kids to try that kind of thing, but i looked up and the Henry's Puffy Taco was shining my head.  What do you do?  It looks kind of silly to put a beat down on a puffy taco.  What can a puffy taco do to deserve that?  I mean it is their whole goal in life to come up with those kind of things.

The weather was awesome and the Missions won.  As usual Chester's Hamburgers made the best burger in the state of Texas.  I learned again that there is no such thing as easy money.  Kingsford Charcoal was giving away $50,000 to the person they drew out of the hat if and the Missions performed some impossible task.  needless t say that no one went home richer.

I enjoyed hanging out with everybody and look forward to all of the summer activities.

Off to the Real World Boot Camp

Were off to the Real World Boot Camp retreat.  Eight seniors, Summer Leal, Gena and myself are headed to Leaky to talk about the real world.  They will learn the difference between college and high school, how to find a church and we will go through Dave Ramsey's Generation Change.  It is going to blow their socks off.  In our free time we have a ton of land on the Frio River to explore.  Pray for us.  It is going to rock.

The River Rocked

This Wednesday we met at the Zedler mill and had tons of sandwiches.  The water was warm, the food was good, the weather was perfect.    Over the past few weeks we have been exploring the idea of what our lives look like once we accept Christ.  We talked about walking in victory over sin.  One of the biggest struggles we face is the internal battle for our minds.  The struggle with temptation.  In Romans 7 Paul tells us that there is a war being waged.  It is important for believers of all ages to understand we still have to deal with sin, but we don't have to be slaves to sin.

Just before we started a squirrel fell out of the tree.  It was perfect timing because from time to time we fall a little short.  Thankfully, Christ forgives us and helps guide us to get up and continue to serve Him

Yes, I am Still Here

Wow, I think it has been like two weeks since I have had a blog entry.  It is officially May and this is the time of year where everything just starts piling on until we finish school.  We have so much cool stuff coming up I can't wait.  On May 21, we will be meeting at Zedler mill to hang out and blow off some steam.

I can't believe the school year is almost up and this group of seniors is graduating.  I have been with them for four years now and seen these seniors develop into great leaders and Godly young men and women.  Our summer schedule rocks.  Everyone is thrilled.  Stay tuned for more details. I will be posting them soon.  We have a good mix of service, fellowship, and discipleship.  I can't wait.  It is going to absolutely rock.

Source at the Stones'

We had the Source here at our house tonight. This is one my favorite parts of the youth ministry. Being here allows the kids to hang out, eat good food, hear the Word and just be with their friends. A lot of times ministry happens and the kids don't even realize it. There is a real sense of community and the kids always seem to enjoy it. We really have an awesome time and I always am encouraged when they leave. I was bummed though. We just got a ping-pong table and we didn't get to play because it was at church. Look out next week though. Forrest Gump is a chump compared to my ping pong skills.
